Welcome to Class F
Welcome to Year 5 – The year of Commitment
Year 5 is a very important year, preparing children for their final year at Primary School so that they are ready to head out into the big wide world beyond Colyton Primary. During this year, the children begin to become role models for the rest of the children in the school. This role comes with more responsibility and your child will need to be supported with managing this extra pressure without letting it worry them.
Year 5 children build on the independence and maturity developed in Year 4 and really begin to take charge of their own learning journey; becoming partners with their teachers in the direction of their learning.
This year, as we move into the Upper Juniors, children will be expected to maintain the high expectations set for them by their teachers and themselves towards their attitude to learning, behavior and enthusiasm.
Alongside the learning that takes place in Year 5, our main aims for all of the children are: for them to experience learning and enjoyment through our fantastic outdoor environment; to continue to develop good social skills and to support them to deal with the new emotions that occur as children become more self-aware; and, to develop an independence that will stand them in good stead for Year 6 and beyond. We deliver the curriculum in a variety of ways to make learning interesting and fun for the children so that children are open to a range of possibilities which could help to shape their futures.
